Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is frequently recommended for people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS or ME/CFS), but it’s quite controversial. Some patients, advocates and researchers say that CBT is not only ineffective, it can be harmful. Meanwhile, some practitioners and several major health organizations (the CDC, the UK’s NICE) consider CBT the front-line therapy for the condition.
